Jerome D. Poland, M.D. and Richard L. West, O.D. started the Crosby Eye Clinic in 1975 in a small building in downtown Crosby. Dr. Poland had a full time practice in Bloomington, MN and a vacation home in the Crosby area and was able to see patients in Crosby on Friday afternoons and Saturdays.
In 1989, a new facility across the street from the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center was constructed. Dr. West continued to see patients five days per week.
 Dr. Poland spent half his time at his Bloomington practice and half at the Crosby Eye Clinic. In 1998, Dr. Poland sold his Bloomington practice to work full time at the Crosby Eye Clinic.
In June of 2000, LASIK surgery was added to the list of procedures performed at the Crosby Eye Clinic with the only fixed site, third generation, scanning laser in Central Minnesota. To accommodate our patients in the Brainerd/Baxter area, the Crosby Eye Clinic added a satellite clinic in Baxter, MN (located north of Mills Fleet Farm on Design Drive) in the spring of 2000.
Ina Drown, M.D. joined the practice in July of 2000 as a board certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology. Crosby Eye Clinic offers Central Minnesota a full range of Eye Care and Eyewear services. The physicians treat all types of ocular disease and disorders and specialize in cataract and refractive surgery. The Crosby Eye Clinic features a laser center with three specialty lasers: Excimer, YAG and Argon, which are utilized in the treatment of Refractive errors, decrease in vision after cataract surgery and diabetes and glaucoma. Between them, Dr. Poland, Dr. Drown and Dr. Sjoberg have performed over 60,000 eye related surgical procedures.
Stacy Sjoberg, M.D.,Ph.D. joined the
clinical staff at Crosby Eye Clinic in 2006. Dr. Sjoberg is fellowship trained in cornea and external diseases of the eye. This subspecialty involves the diagnosis and management of diseases of the cornea, sclera and eyelids.
Her training includes traditional and newer techniques in corneal transplant surgery and surgery to correct refractive errors, LASIK and PRK.
Dr. Sjoberg also provides comprehensive ophthalmic care including cataract surgery, glaucoma and diabetes management.
Mary Zeise, O.D. joined Dr. West in March of 2001 in the optometry department with special interest in the fitting and management of contact lenses.
Dr. West, Dr. Mairs and Dr. Zeise offer full service eye exams and ocular health checks, and also prescribe spectacles and fit the newest developments in contact lenses.
Our optical departments features the latest frame styles as well as the newest materials and spectacle lens designs. They specialize in no-line bifocals and children's eyewear.
Cassie Mairs, O.D., joined Dr. West and Dr. Zeise in June 2010 in the optometry
department. Dr. Mairs is trained in a wide range of optometric services including management of eye diseases, pre and post-operative care, comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings.
